Graphite-based Bipolar Plates and Gaskets for Renewable Energy Storage and Electricity Supply

Bipolar plates and gaskets are essential components of fuel cells and flow batteries. Since more than a decade Eisenhuth develops, manufactures and commercializes bipolar plates and gaskets. The materials are tailored for the specific application and the requirements of each customer.
For bipolar plates, Eisenhuth manufactures graphite polymer compounds employing specific extruders where different material combinations can be processed. Subsequently, in a first step blank plates are made via compression molding or injection molding, depending on material configuration or number of plates required. For small series, features and flow field patterns can be milled into the plate and modified for design reviews. For medium or large quantities and after design freeze, Eisenhuth manufactures a mold for compression or injection molding of the specific plate. By this step manufacturing efforts and cost become significantly reduced.
Continuous development and material improvement enable state-of-the-art material for the increasing market of renewable energy materials. Eisenhuth participates in a large number of international and national, interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with universities, research institutes and companies along the entire value chain. This ensures a direct exchange between science and industry and enables that the latest results to be directly integrated in technical processes.

Like our bipolar plates our gaskets has to fullfil different aquirements depending on the application they are used in. Therefore we work with many different elastomers for the processing of gaskets. The following list can give you a brief overwiew:
